
Born in 1970, Indonesia
Samuel Indratma is an Indonesian visual artist, muralist, and community-based artist born in Gombong, Central Java, in 1970. He studied Graphic Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta, from 1990 to 1996.
He was a founder and prominent member of Apotik Komik (1997–2005), an influential Yogyakarta-based art collective that used murals and public art as tools for social communication. He also co-founded the Jogja Mural Forum and the Folk Mataraman Institute, continuing his long-term involvement in community-based art and cultural activities.
Samuel works across various media, including painting, drawing, comics, murals, street art, wayang, installation, and animation. His artistic practice often explores collaboration, local culture, public spaces, and ways of bringing art closer to communities. His works and projects have been presented in Indonesia and internationally.
