
Born in 1970, Jakarta, Indonesia
Esti Lestarini is an Indonesian painter born in Jakarta in 1970. She studied Anthropology at the University of Indonesia from 1988 to 1995 and began her professional career as a journalist for DeTIK before working as an editor at Pustaka Utama Grafiti. Her artistic journey developed further when she studied painting at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and Académie de Port-Royal in Paris, France, from 1997 to 1998.
Since the early 1990s, Esti has participated in numerous exhibitions in Indonesia and abroad, including exhibitions in Paris, Monaco, Tokyo, and Italy. She held a solo exhibition at Beranda Seni Indigo, Jakarta, in 2004, and has taken part in various cultural exchange and group exhibitions such as the Indonesia–Japan Cultural Exchange exhibitions, IMAGO MUNDI: Indonesia – Islands of the Imagination, and exhibitions featuring Indonesian women artists. Her exhibition history reflects a long-standing engagement with painting and Indonesia’s contemporary art scene.
